Axing the Fax: Industry Perspectives on the New Claims Attachments Final Rule

This WEDI Virtual Spotlight will bring together industry leaders from payer, provider, and clearinghouse organizations to offer early reactions to the newly released Claims Attachments Final Rule and what it means for the future of health care data exchange. Panelists will explore how the rule may be implemented across the ecosystem, including expected workflows, operational changes, and the path toward reducing reliance on manual processes—often referred to as “axing the fax.”

The discussion will highlight both the potential benefits of more standardized, electronic claims attachments and the practical challenges stakeholders anticipate as the industry moves from policy to implementation. Attendees will gain valuable insight into readiness considerations, collaboration needs, and what to expect as organizations begin preparing for May 2028 compliance.
